Why is Coconut Oil So Great for Your Skin?

Because of Free-Radicals, commercial creams and lotions generally contain mostly water. This moisture is absorbed into dry skin, expanding the tissues so that wrinkles fade away and the skin feels better. But this is just a temporary fix.

When the water evaporates or is absorbed into the body, the wrinkled skin returns. The other main ingredient in most commercial products is an oil, which is nearly always a highly-refined vegetable oil that is missing all of the natural protective antioxidants. Refined vegetable oils lead to a large number of free radicals, both when we use them in our foods and when they are used on our skin and hair.

Free radicals can cause a chain reaction which produces more free radicals, which end up damaging thousands of skin molecules. Our body fights free radicals with antioxidants; the chain reaction is stopped by antioxidants.

We get most of our antioxidants through our diet, but having antioxidants in our skin and hair care products is important too. As I have stated in previous articles, coconut oil is one of the few oils that does not need to go through a refining process, so Virgin Coconut Oil is especially helpful in fighting free-radicals.

So the ideal skin and hair care products are made with oils that not only soften the skin, but protect it against damage and promote healing. All of the oils in our products (coconut, kukui, and neem) are of this type of oil. They help and heal the skin, rather than just giving it a temporary fix. These products will have lasting benefits, unlike most commercial lotions.

So use a good quality unrefined oil for your dietary needs, as well as your skin and hair. Nourish your body inside and out with Virgin Coconut Oil. If you have not tried this great product yet, give yourself a treat!
